Artist and curator Kate Finkelstein was born in St. Petersburg. She graduated from The British Higher School of Art and Design in 2019.
The main idea of her art practice – to create art-work is to create a field of multidimensional human experience: “I do not make art-objects, I create art-fields”. The artist works mainly in the genre of site-specific installation using a variety of mediums. Kate Finkelstein rethinks mental / conscious/ unconscious phenomena, creating bizarre forms – connects various objects, ready-mades, plants and tissues with silicone, soap and other materials. Also Kate Finkelstein works with photography, using cyanotype and printing on unusual objects. Actual topics for art-practice: Global identity; Order and chaos; Individual and interpersonal mental space / unconsciousness; Ecotrauma.
Her works became participants of projects in 58th La Biennale di Venezia, 8th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art, Microbiennale of Horizontal Initiatives (2019), Festival “ARCHSTOYANIE” (2020), 7th Moscow International Biennale of Young Art.
Artist is a resident of the work studious at the gallery "Elektrozavod" (Moscow).
